Meeting opened 3.20pm
- Discussion about the Census [took place].
Ratification of Constitution
- All members present have advance voted (Noel is still absent [at this point])
- 2 votes (both advance votes registered with Tommy)
Motion:
- that the Constitution be ratified (or words to that effect)
- 2 “YES” votes
- 0 “NO” votes
- Ratification passes (Interim Result declared at 5.08pm)
- The Constitution enters effect 5.08pm
Initial Executive Council
- Elections have been held previously for the following positions: Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Auckland Chapter President, Media Spokesperson
- The winners were respectively: Peter, Bruce, Noel, Tommy and Matt
- We accept these prior elections, and accept that these positions are all Officer positions on the Executive Council, along with the vacant officer position of President.

Candidate Selection
- Voting occurs in the channel, one vote received
- Interim Result declared at 5.39pm:
- 4 votes
- 1 regular vote
- 3 advance votes registered with Tommy
- The two candidates have equal preference
- 2 votes preferring Al-Saady over Zeng
- 2 votes preferring Zeng over Al-Saady
- Vote is tied for preferred contestant
- Total preferences of any value
- 3 required for the preferred contestant to become the candidate
- 4 for Al-Saady
- 2 for Zeng
- 4 votes
- The final result will be declared in the coming days, after any last minute advance votes have been included.
About allowing withdrawal of candidates
- Noel expresses an interest in withdrawing
- Wikipedia and the Constitution consulted about whether this is possible
- The Executive council has the power to decide
- Discussion about resolving to allow candidate withdrawals
- Although it would be legal, Noel voting on the resolution would not be good practice as he has a conflict of interest, being a contestant.
- Noel requests to withdraw his contestantship
Moved by Tommy:
- to recommend the Executive Council resolve to allow withdrawals from Candidate Selection for the Botany by-election
- Seconded Matt.
- Motion passes, recommendation is official.
Executive Council Resolution 1 to Supersede Memberships
- All current memberships are hereby superseded by 12 month memberships starting on the date the constitution came into effect, the 30th of January 2011
- The Constitution will have authority over these memberships
- Any member is permitted henceforth to retroactively resign their membership dating back to the time of the Constitution coming into effect.
- This permission is nullified for any member who renews their membership or publicly accepts the Constitution.
- Any member who joined between 30/01/2010 and 30/01/2011 who exercises this permission may claim a partial refund of their membership fee on a pro-rata basis assuming a 12 month expected term.
