Below is a link to an interview with Birgitta Jonsdottir and is titled a Financial & Political Update from Iceland. The interview is conducted in almost faultless English and covers how the people of Iceland coped with the financial meltdown and some myths concerning this. It also talks about how the Icelanders themselves are writing their own constitution and exploring direct democracy.

She is instrumental in the founding of the (still nascent) Icelandic Pirate Party.

Considering the many similarities that Iceland and New Zealand share we would be well advised to follow their experiences.

The interview lasts an hour that you will count as well invested.

57:44 Yeah, and another aspect of it too is if we do have efficient direct democracy and experimentations with liquid democracy like the Pirate Party's been doing in Germany, if we can put it in a format where any regular person can understand it, how it works, I think that we have a great potential for accountability...
Sorry, had to laugh. Liquid Feedback does look pretty cool, but it also kind of feels reminiscent of Emacs.

Careful james g, your age is showing. However, simplicity is not the equivalent to transparency but it is a substantial part of it.

@ James G

This is what I like about Loom.io. It's still in alpha, but it's already a fairly user-friendly web app, and a number of political and community groups in Aotearoa are already getting good use out of it, and helping to develop it (Agile styles) in the process.
